Wat Khao Noi - Hua Hin Temple with great scenic views

This is one of our favourite Temples in Hua Hin: Wat Khao Noi for many reasons:

  • It's rather small and really authentic - not many tourists around
  • Climbing the stairs up to the temple puts you into the right mood to calm down at the top (but for those who can't make it up there is also a road around that leads to the top)
  • The architecture of the temple and the buddha statue that can be seen from far are impressive
  • At the top you can experience great scenic views of Hua Hin

How to get to Wat Khao Noi

The address of the temple is just a bit away from the coast, fairly close to Huahin's town center. Use the attached map to easily navigate there. And don't worry you will be able to the Temple's buddha statue from far awat to lead the way.

Local customs and what to do

For 20 Baht you can get a candle or incent sticks to light for good luck. Kneeing down in front of buddha and making a prayer is supposed to bring good luck. To avoid: Don't wear shoes once you reached the top, dress conservatively and avoid pointing your feet towards any images of buddha, monks etc.; You can take pictures but respectfully and rather exterior than interior of any temples.

Shake the drum with the numbered wooden sticks - the one that falls out first defines your fate and you can read about it on the papers with the corresponding number.

Panmoramic photo from the viewpoint on top - it's actually almost 360 degree views from the top. So even if you have been to many temples before, the great scenic views make this Hua Hin Temple worth a visit.
